Credits & licenses

The original game, the separate community engine and the materials behind this independent site.

Original game

Azeroth Survivors is a free fan-made WoW roguelike by Aethus. The Play online entry loads the original from Aethus's website. A direct link also opens the original in a new tab. This site is independent of the original creator and separately offers a community reconstruction.

Open-source engine

This edition builds on OutThisLife/azeroth-survivors-re, using the benilla and wenilla Rust + Bevy client projects.

Engine source is available under your choice of MIT or Apache 2.0. Components in third_party/ retain their own upstream licenses.

Upstream engines: samwhosung/benilla and Arnesen/wenilla.

This distribution

The Windows local package includes the engine licenses and third-party notices. The local connection code is available as source.

World of Warcraft materials

World of Warcraft art, models, maps, sounds and client data are the property of Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft is a trademark of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.

The game screenshots on this site come from the reconstruction's docs/screenshots/ directory and show Blizzard artwork rendered from client data. These images illustrate the game; they are not covered by the engine's open-source license.

This site does not distribute MPQ archives or other client game data. Players of the community engine supply their own WoW 1.12.1 client files locally. The original game and its files are loaded from wow.aethus.pl. This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.

Game data & privacy

The online original loads from wow.aethus.pl, where game settings and storage are handled by that site. Opening it in a separate tab uses the same external game. This site does not receive its game state.

For the community reconstruction, this hosted site provides engine files and documentation. The local data host binds to 127.0.0.1 on your PC. Your selected client folder is not uploaded to this website.

The community engine can remember game settings in this browser's local storage. You can clear them using the browser's site-data controls. This site does not require an account to read the guides or launch the reconstruction.
